csamoiedo40 I'm always good at looking at people's ebay profiles. But for some reason, I havn't been scammed on ebay for a while so I let my guard down. Only today did I realize he was "based in Chile" and that his Miami address was a forwarding service. I've already had a case opened against me. ARG! I'm now going to google every single address before I ship now. There is a reason I don't ship outside USA or Canada! :# Out $50. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by wilsonwu89 01/22/2017 8:06 pm

Usually I not resell, but I "cutting" whatever I have usually selling for low. Recently this guy (and he has perfect feedback) asked me to ship coin to Chile (prior buying - which is honest). I replied him, that have to check with Canada Post, and after clarifying sent him the result: Express (the only way to sent with tracking) - near CAD 80 No tracking - CAD 11. Since this message, never heard of him.

I shipped it untracked to the USA. My fault.
The people who use forwarding services are nothing but trouble. Avoid them.

Are you suggesting ebay sellers should add this person to their blocked bidders list based on the fact that he opened a case for not received and you can't prove it was delivered because you didn't use tracking?

How does one expect a coin to arrive in Chile VIA the United States from Canada within 2 weeks time?
And opening a case without even contacting to boot.
This has sketchy written all over it. Only bought silver too.
Unlike the United States, where you guys are blessed with $2 tracking. It costs upwards of $20 to ship something tracked and I have mentioned it is my fault for not checking the buyer's address and not shipping tracked.
However, I do think we have a duty to protect fellow numismatists from people who set red flags alarm bells ringing.

Quote: How does one expect a coin to arrive in Chile VIA the United States from Canada within 2 weeks time? I really am sorry you are going to lose the $50. I still remember the first person that ripped me off (charge back for unauthorized credit card in 1999) like it was yesterday. A buyer isn't supposed to be able to open a case for non-delivery with ebay until after the latest estimated delivery date. That delivery is not to Chile, but to the address they specified when paying (the forwarding service in Miami). If the delivery service does not receive it, they can inform the buyer (wherever they are in the world), who can then open a case. Buyers are not required to contact the seller first before opening a case. If the buyer is sketchy, what difference would contacting you first have made? They still want their money back. A buyer that "only buys silver" could describe hundreds if not thousands of buyers on ebay. Did the buyer wait until after the latest estimated delivery date? But even if they didn't, you have no chance of winning the case since you have no tracking number. Now, could this be a scam, where the delivery service steals every valuable package that arrives at their business in Miami without tracking? It is possible, and the buyer may not even be aware of that criminal activity. Blocking a buyer like that doesn't protect sellers at all.

I'm a bit confused. Did seller (OP) ship to Miami, or Chile? If Miami, wouldn't seller only be responsible for delivery to Miami?

Yes, thanks, no tracking.

If the ebay shipping address was Miami, and the seller used tracking, it would have fallen under seller protection once it was confirmed that it had been delivered to the Miami address.

Wow, even after explaining to the buyer I have issued a refund. It takes a few days. He is now escalating to ebay Customer Service because he don't give a darn.
