1996 penny, copper color but the back has a silverish color. Did someone just try to bleach this coin or something?

It may have been scraped/buffed, revealing the zinc core but we really need better pics (of both sides): in better light/focus and crop out excess background.

The scratches are a dead giveaway that it is PMD.

Yeah, not even 35 cents.

I didn't mention, but I did see the scratches on the rim near those silverish areas. Dead giveaway.

On the other hand, if you found a pre-1982 penny like that (and it's not a '43) the answers would be a lot different.

yea, I actually found this penny probably 15 years ago before I really knew the composition of pennies and just kept it...thought it was something special. Oh well lol. Thanks for the input.
