Went to a car boot sale this morning and brought about 400+ coins for £10 the highlights were a 1995 united nations £2, 1994 50p, 1969 50p in great condition, 1897 six pence and 1993 20 french franc coin

Thanks to the internet and its unlimited knowledge, these sort of deals prove hard to come by in my area. Everybody seems to "know" the value of everything and will not part with it unless they receive that plus 50%.

I was working away from home this week and found a market stall in the west of England. I brought a 156 coins for £5, I got $16 worth coins inculding my first dollar coins. I also found a unknown silver coin, will post pictures once the image optimizer works.

I have been junk box hunting for over 40 years for ANYTHING numismatically valuable or interesting, and above all, excellent value for money at the time of purchase.
Normally, I go for the cherries only.
The results of this type of collecting forms the main bulk of my collection.
In current terms, almost all of the coins in my collection have a value of around $5 or more.
To accumulate this type of collection, you need to have a reasonably good general knowledge of numismatics. Those with specialist knowledge are the people from who I draw upon to increase my own knowledge. The CCF is an excellent forum for my own needs.

I went to a carboot on Sunday and managed to buy 186 coins for £5. For that I got $6.25, €16.10, 24 Swiss francs, 48 Norwegian kroner and 61 predecimal British coins.

Managed to buy 197 coins for £5, this included €8.20, $14.85 and various other world coins. Also got my 1st 500 yen coin from Japan. Very pleased with my purchase.
