I don't think that is a mint mark. It looks like a nick to me.

I agree. It kind of looks like what is called a parking lot coin issue. Something distorted the field in that area. Note the other areas where copper is now appearing where the surface has been altered.?

Hehe...I was hoping it wasn't what it appears to be.
The left upper edge is what throws me, almost looks like a mint mark piece.
