i have recently read about counterfeit ngc and pcgs holders every time I hear about these things it scares me away from the hobby for awhile but I love it so much I always come back my thing is could you imagine how much more fun and enjoyable this hobby would be if there were no fake, altered,or cleaned coins and every seller was trustworthy even though this is already the greatest hobby it would be that much better without the bad guys.

You don't understand - it is because we are willing to pay extra premium that are causing crooks to counterfeit coins. If coins were just at face value, no one would bother to counterfeit them as they can't make a huge profit.

Take it this way around, if you do own a genuine coin out of a huge batch of counterfeit coins, that is something you can be proud of.

Ahhhhhh. Without bad guys,.....

1. There would be no Westerns
2. The Keystone cops would have nothing to do
3. There would be no FBI, CIA, USMC, and police force (ok, maybe that's GOOD!)
4. Locksmiths would starve
5. On Sundays, we would talk about Heaven and ?
6. All coins would be the same price for everyone - no more snipes on e-bay.
7. Pro Wrestling would have to dramatically change the way it works
8. There would be no more politicians

ok. That's a start....

9. There would be no taxes to collect to fund all the services necessary to harness the "bad guys" activities,,,,yeah right, our politicians would surely find another cause!

IMO the counterfeit slabs are a legitimate concern, but as of right now it is overwhelmingly unlikely you will pick one up. Think about the ratio of legit slabs to fake ones. Also, from what I've seen it seems to be they only counterfeit (coin and slab) the very high-end coins. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that last part.
