There are abrasions on the obverse of this coin that go nearly all the way around it, just inside the rim. Why would part of the devices be gone and no zinc showing up?
There is a bit of zinc showing to the left of the 'L' and inside the 'R' in Liberty.

There are also very light abrasions that appear on his forehead going back towards the back of his head.

Also, there is what appears to be a die crack on the reverse. Your thoughts appreciated.

This is a nice Struck Through Grease error.

I think it's a grease strike through on a deteriorating die-with a nice die crack on the reverse

Thank you both, makes sense. I couldn't figure out why, if it was abrasion, that it did not work its way through the plating.

Nice find!

You should check Cuds on coins website to see if that die crack is listed, looks like a nice one!

It's a nice crack, but I don't think it's major enough to be listed

cwb, I found one similar, which is LDB4-1995-001. That one had 3 cracks but all were closer to vertical, not horizontal like this one. Thanks.

Strike through grease, and nice die crack, don't suppose it's a 92

oldmike, there is no trace of the last digit and even the last '9' is very faint. The one similar on Cuds on coins is a 1995 but not sure about this one. Thanks

Like everyone else said, Struck Through Grease and a nice die crack. Before you mentioned the zinc showing through, I thought it could be an abraded copper cent, but the rim would suggest otherwise.
