I have made many purchases from Jake's Marketplace and have rarely been disappointed. In my opinion, the coins he has are of good quality, and his prices are competitive. I do not hesitate to order from him, and indeed, have an order in right now.

As to the 1909-S Lincoln Cent from Jakes, he has a photo. It is your choice whether or not to buy it. What could be fairer? Personally, I do not buy so called hole fillers. I don't mind a coin with wear, as long as it is properly graded, it just can't have any problems.

Other than ebay I primarily buy from https://www.wayneherndon.com and https://www.millersmint.com for online purchases. Millers Mint just has a crazy selection of coins. I mean they will have 100 different examples of the same date/mintmark in different grades. I like Wayne, he is local, fast shipper, sells Intercept Shield albums at the lowest prices I have found and has a decent selection. He also just opened up a new site focused on only supplies, https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com . Everyone has different "favorite places" to shop. Try some of the suggestions and determine what the best fit for you is. Thanks, Jim

I've yet to "live through the computer" when it comes to my coin purchases....I like to be there in person, and see it, touch it, and judge it for myself......right there.... Coin shows, Coin auctions, Estate Auctions........you can try some of these if you are "ill at ease" with your credit card "out there".....or are continually dissatisfied with "online purchases".

I did some mail-order purchasing in the eighties, but times have changed. I have watched a few auctions and have browsed a few on-line dealers as well, but I have never gone through with it. I am still watching and I still think about it. Now I am looking at these links and thinking again! Only time will tell if I have the nerve or not!

A year or so ago I purchased some supplies from Jake's and there was a problem with the order. Michael from Jakes e-mailed me on a Sunday evening and he apologised for the situation and made it right. Since then, I have had a few conversations with him concerning questions I had and he was very helpful. I have continued to order from him and would not hesitate to recommend Jake's. As far as ebay is concerned, for circulated coins, Dave Enders (davenders) is hard to beat. He prices his coins fairly, his grading is right on, and his shipping rate is reasonable. Darrell

It's a tough call..if you buy coins from me, you'll probably get a very good deal most of the time. Any good purchase from me is solely determined by the bidders on ebay. For instance. I have a 2-coin set of FE cents 57 and 58 for sale on ebay. one coin is EF/AU the other is AU. the current (standing) bid for the last day for both coins is $260. I set a reserve of $240. I also put a 3-coin lot ( Walking Liberty halves (1920-D, 1921-S, 1938-D) with a reserve of $149. Current bid is $189. The coins are F, VG, VG, respectively. Recently, on ebay, I sold three rolls (150) of Mercury dimes for $200...most in G and VG condition. There are bargains out there. If you communicate with sellers thoroughly, you'll learn to sort out the b.s. and abide Spike Lee....dont buy the hype.

I can recommend a few good ones for Canadian coins, but that might not be what you collect. For US coins, I've heard good thing about Harlan J. Berk. http://www.harlanjberk.com/ Odd. That is the last place on Earth I would recommend. From personal experience I have had nothing but horrible experiences with them. Not through the interenet but right there in their store. Since I live and work in the area I've probably been by or in that place hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times. Vast amount of cleaned coins, overpriced and no bargaining and rude, ignorant people. Since they are in the center of Chicago and have vast amounts of stamps, coin merchandise, ancient types of artifacts, they have little interest in coin collectors. They never participate in local coin shows and when I asked why they said just not their type of people. And not just from a recent experience. I've been in that area since that place used to be Rare Coin Company Of America in the 60's.

Like jbuck quoted I like to be there and touch, look at the coin in person to determine the quality. We have ordered from Millers Mint, Coast coins and so far have not had any problems. My wife has ordered from ebay and had good luck as well.
