I recently purchased a 1912s. The s is not clear. I was wondering if there was a tell tale way of knowing between a d & s. I did notice that the s is closer to the period and is larger. This also looks like a die issue. Any info back would be great. Thanks! Gary

Hi Gary

Welcome to the forum !!!

Unforutnately MM location is not always something that can be relied upon ,, since the MM was added to the die by hand ,its location can be somewhat random within certian boundaries.

If you can post a pic of the coin maybe we can help determine if it is in fact an S mint coin.

Please post the pic in the main coin forum along with your question !!

again Welcome !

Rick, thanks for a quick reply. I'm going to do my best in trying to figure out on how to post. the mm is super small on this. I do have a 6.1 megapix Nikon, but to enlarge with light and post will be a first. Best!

Gary, just make sure the picture quality is set to the highest setting and the photo will be pleeeenty big enough. Trust Me.

The photo below was taken with a 4.0 Olympus from about 8 inches away. You'll have plenty of size and be able to get light in no problem.
