The design looks like that of a Victoria sovereign. However, since it is certainly not gold, it is a badly corroded fake/ imitation.

That may also explain the massive cut through the coin. I have heard of cuts/holes into the centre of a coin to expose the inner metal, with a view to defeating washes or plating.
