Are Canadian coins that are slabbed by PCGS or NGC desirable? I see a few of them here and there on ebay and wondered if ICCS is better when it comes to Canadian coins?

Can only speak for colonial tokens, in which case NGC tends to over grade by 10+ points.

Generally though ICCS seems to be the "go to" for Canadian coins selling in Canada. PCGS would probably be more recognizable if selling in the USA.

PCGS and NGC will grade them ½ to a full grade higher than ICCS.
Different standards.

The basic rule is:

For Canadian coins ICCS is best for Canadians, while PCGS and NGC are best for Americans.

Why?

Because Americans don't value ICCS for beans, while Canadians do.

Too long an explanation to tell you why this is so.

I have seen a few US coins slabbed by ICCS. That's what kinda prompted my question about Canadian coins in US slabs.

Nice coins are desirable, regardless of the holder. It's the opinion of the graders for each of the respective holders which could be considered the subject of any debate about desirability.

I have a whole set of Victorian fifty cents in PCGS holders and probably half of them are overgraded. ICCS is a whole lot more conservative on the grading if you ask me. However, ICCS holders are crap for larger coins because the coin splits the inner inert holder, making them totally undesirable from a display standpoint, in my opinion.

Nowadays I'm into album collecting so I crack or cut almost everything out, unless it's a high-value mint-state item, and I don't own too many of those....

I've never bought a Canadian coin in a PCGS or NGC holder because I don't agree with the grades. I tend to collect in the VF-AU range and this is where you see the biggest differences. They get closer at the bottom and top ends.
So to answer your question: to me, they are not desirable.

Yes, and no... it really depends on the grades and grade rarities...

I'd think MS and SP coins in PCGS are more desirable (to me at least), while circulated coins is better in ICCS flips. PCGS/NGC tend to overgrade circulated coins. I've seen VF coins in XF or higher holders. Some people might have also seen F in XF-AU holders if I recall correctly.

But when it comes to MS and SP coins, I like that PCGS also gives eye appeal some score. ICCS will grade based on details, so you can have a mark-free MS67 coin in ICCS, but with a huge fingerprint to ruin the coin's appeal. With PCGS though, they can add/remove a point for eye appeal
