A little birdie tells me to keep an eye out for a product that will be featuring a special Canada 150 50-cent coin.

Yep, more than likely. Just excited the 50-cent piece is getting in on the action!

But we already saw the design in the Silver Set.
Imo, unfortunately, not attractive at all.

Still nice will be to get the roll or "coin on card" maybe...

Is this what the birdie told you of? The 2017 150th anniversary official emblem appears on the 50c in the Special Silver Proof set that was recently released. It wouldn't be surprising if the steel plated 50c rolls bear the same design.

This is RCMs stock photo.

Yes there will be special wrap rolls of the traditional coat of arms 50 cent and the 2017 logo shown above. Likely $49 each with 35k 'mintages'.

You confused me, CC-Ottawa

You aware about "Coat of Arms" 2017 50c rolls with the logo painted on the wrap, or:
the item will be pair of rolls - traditional and Anniversary?
(the price of CAD 50 supports the second assumption)

Sorry for the confusion. Two different rolls for $50. I'm not sure if the rolls would be sold individually.

That is most likely the image that will be used. I was told it would be in some unnamed upcoming products. I'm not sure what form it will take. I have the regular coat of arms coin, just anxiously awaiting the Canada 150 coin. Seeing the roll of the Canada 150 halves is reassuring. I am wondering though when they'll be released?

Thank you, CC-Ottawa!
Appreciate for exact images.

@TheForce:
If I remember correctly, the 50c roll usually "March item"

$50 for two rolls of 2017 50c, two different designs? Seriously? Two?

I can almost imagine the sound of the evil laugh as the pricing and product discussions were taking place at RCM.

I just don't understand the high premium for rolls of halves. I think it's quote excessive. Same goes for the PL/uncirculated sets. I wish I was a fly on the wall where price determination is discussed.

The price doesn't change for years...
The RCM "tag price" for 50c roll is CAD 24 (or 24.95?) + Tax, which means bit more than twice face value. This is much better than for any (except Circulation packs) other product:
Gift / Uncirculated sets, Silver / Gold coins.

So, anyone who wants the rolls "right now" - please pay asking price, and if you prefer to get it with discount $2-$5 per roll - wait half year - year...

The premium for the uncirculated sets is okay with me considering $20 has come to be almost here nor there in today's high cost of living. I'm willing to pay that for a set of new coins each year that are not laden with fingerprints.

But the roll of 50c, not saying I'm oblidged to collect them of course but yes I certainly agree, the markup is considerable as it's only a roll and no other packaging involved. But last year the mintage was increased to 32,000 rolls and still RCM sold-out so the demand is there. Their sales are certainly far more lucrative than if they were shipped to banks to be given away for face value. That there's no choice but to pay more than f/v for a circulation coin, that's rather questionable.

I would be curious if the Canada 150 half were issued to circulation how well it would be received? Are 50-cent pieces even viable in circulation today?

Well...you right, in general, Wildflower

But, IMO, the premium on the Gift packs / Uncirculated Set / 50c rolls not only due packaging, but because an "unique" and relatively low mintage coin included in the set. Or it is 25 cents (previously), or Loonie or 50 cents piece.

No, they will not do this, TheForce, since 50 cents coin not in the circulation.
But I have "real life" example about 'how it will be received':
several years ago brought 50c piece coin to the show to the colleague, cause he told, that never heard about this coin. When he saw the coin, he looked at me, and asked: "Fake?"
