They both look narrow to me.

the date Is much closer on the wide rim

Both narrow, but one of the coins looks like it has a touch of MAD, which is causing the slight difference you see here.

Narrow Rim = Far Date
Wide Rim = Near Date

Yours are both narrow, but the die was slightly misaligned on one.

MAD = misaligned die. Often it's the hammer die, which is the obverse die. The reverse of the coin will be properly centered because it is seated in the collar, but if the obverse die is even a fraction of a millimeter misaligned, you'll see thickening on one side of the obverse rim.

And the top coin is a 79 D which are all narrow rim/far dates.
