I haven't bought a world coin lot in ages off of ebay, they used to be so much fun when ebay was young and everyone and their uncle was dumping old "collections". Well, I got one and was pleasantly surprised. For $12 + $3 sh I got over a half oz of junk silver and a few decent coins, along with the junk of course.
I particularly like this one.

With silver at $20/oz, this one hold .0044 oz and is therefor worth 8.8c. Maybe I'll hold this one! Looks like an XF to me.

I also got the token shown above. I can guess it's an Austrian casino token, but what is the unit, 50 Schillings? Any info on this item would be appreciated.

Nice buy! Good lots are becoming harder to find on ebay. Most of the stuff I've seen lately are piles of junk with one or two silvers strategically placed on the top.

I admit I still have a weakness for the occasional ebay world coin lot. I'm probably not getting in coin value what I'm paying in most cases, but there's nothing like having several pounds of coins to sort through and identify to pass the time.

It seems like there's always something interest (not necessarily valuable) showing up in most of my lots--bizarre tokens, badly worn old large copper coins, etc.

I like the "thrill of the hunt" too. I bought myself one of those Bundesbank bags last Christmas and had some great fun going through it. Oddly enough, while I got plenty of coins from obvious places (France, Spain, Italy), I also found a number of coins from off-the-beaten-path places, and the mix wasn't overly heavy on any one nation in particular (unlike some ebay batches). Once I get organized and sell or trade off a bunch of my duplicates, I'll probably go for another bag again.

I just purchased one that had a few silver coins showing but no mention of silver in the description. It looked heavy on Canadian with many odds and ends thrown in. I anticipate a fair amount of silver and hope to have gotten a deal. Definites are a late 50s,early 60s Mexican peso, Canadian dimes, and a Jamaican $5 of recent mintage. A hundred or so unidentified. Hope to see it in a couple of weeks. I agree that the hunt is as much or more fun than the acquisition. I am keeping bags of world coins from countries I plan to travel to so I can trade with a local dealer 1 for 1 for coinage from one of these countries when I have sorted through the bulk lots.
