I'm new to this forum but could use some help! This is from an estate in Iowa - 94 y.o. woman who was in the Pacific theater and Korean war, supposedly never left IA after that.
I am confused by the patina-the portions that were covered looked too brassy for the dates, but the provenance would say they they are authentic. Anyone have experience with this from both the age of the hanging and the patina behavior? I used nylon line to reinforce old cord.

Maybe whoever made this objet d'art polished the coins to make them all nice and shiny before stringing them together? Then, over the intervening 65 years, the exposed surfaces retoned. Only the surfaces that were covered still show that cleaned surface from several decades ago.

Also, welcome to CCF. That is an interesting piece that you have there.

The 'coins' are probably reproductions made specifically for the object d'art market place at the time. They are too perfect.
