Lately, in the auction houses, I have seen a ton of ENG Slabs. I am thinking that they are out of business as I can find no info on them. There was a standing liberty of 1923 MS 64 Full Head, I couldn't research as I usually do so I took a chance and won the coin. Well the long story shorten is this PCGS puts this coin at 1500.00 in one of their slabs, the auction house put it at 350.00. So how reliable is the grade by ENG as I am thinking on having it regraded by PCGS . I have included a pic for your viewing pleasure and comments, thx

I have experience dealing with slabbed coins, and over the years I've learned that dealers and collectors tend to only deal with PCGS and NGC slabbed coins. All other slabbed coins are treated as raw. Exceptions to this would be ANACS and ICG, their coins are certainly not treated as raw, but they do face more scrutiny than coins certified by NGC or PCGS.

I would suggest cracking it out of that slab and sending it in to one of the major third party graders.

Never heard of them.

Need to see the back and also if it's actually sonically sealed or just friction fit (try feeling for a seam with your thumbnail).

Basically, it's a basement (bogus) grader, so the actual coin grade could be anything from cleaned to low mint state.

The reverse looks cleaned to me... I haven't heard of ENG and doubt anyone would send them a coin of that value unless they want it to grade problem free (when it is cleaned, etc.).

Agree was looking fine on the obverse, when I saw the reverse it looked cleaned cause of all the obvious hairlines. As others have said buy the coin not the slab

Try the thumbnail test, open the slab and swap labels.
