Picked this up at the flea market this weekend for just over spot.I realize that's about what it's worth but is it the VL variety?

If you have a gram scale: Victorian Leaves Reverse: 11.62 Grams, Edwardian Leaves Reverse: 11.66 Grams. As for as by eye identification I'm not that familiar. Has something to do with the 9 in the date and the "N" in CANADA.

Yes, it's VL
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

I'd say easily G-4. The rev looks like a normal G-4 to me but the obverse looks like a pretty nice G-6.
