The 1936 DDO Lincoln Cent is a recognized variety, but I've been unable to find anything on a 1936S DDO. Any ideas as to what this would be worth? Please disregard the arrows on the cheek and the gouge. I was the victim of a bait and switch, and I'm trying to decide whether to pursue it or blow it off.

The only 36S DDO is a doubled eyelid. If your asking @ the effect on LIBERTY & above motto, that sure ain't doubling. Liberty looks damaged, reduction in size, the other loks like coin jumped in collar. Hope that helps

Maybe... Is it common for a coin to "jump in collar"? Does that mean there is no added value?

I may get wordy, bear with me. When the die press moves downward, it is mechanically/physically held in place. If it becomes loose due to repeated pressures, when the die strikes the planchette in the collar of the lower die it may be slightly tilted. This causes a portion of a coin such as here to be struck at 6 o'clock first, raising 12 o'clock up minutely coming in slight contact w/ down moving die. The press continues until bottom of motion making the final impression.(This all happens in a split second). Some call this a "slap", the usual sound of "chunk!" , goes "ka-chunk!
You may see partial formed letters or extra details as in the addition between the normal motto and the rim. Make sense?

Oops, 2nd question, no extra value but god example of this mechanical error.

Yes, I get the concept, and thanks!I'm not new to collecting, but I have taken a recent interest in die varieties and errors, and discovered that it's a science in its own right. I guess I should take the suggestions from others that I read up on the minting process, and I could probably figure a lot of this out for myself. Thanks again.
