I have an 1888/7 Indian cent here, that has all of the markers 7of a Snow 1; the die break over "United", the tip of the 7 at the top left, and yes, even the bottom tip of the 7. I'm just attaching the one pic, because this is the kicker. Instead of staying under the SW corner of the 8 like it was supposed to, it got clipped of and wound up directly south at the bottom. I don't see how it could be anything else; what do you guys think? And please, no lectures from purists and old curmudgeons who sit in the back of their coin and jewelry shops in a visor cap, suspenders and pants that come up to their chests, daydreaming about the day some kid will walk in with the funny-looking penny he found on Dad's dresser.

I don't think the coin shop guys you described "wait for the little kid to come in with the penny they found on Dad's dresser"..... I think they dream for the grieving little old lady to walk in the front door with the late husband's collection of 20$ Saints and original rolls of Morgan dollars which they gladly offer 10% over face for!

At least a full pic of the obverse would help. But, I don't see what you're seeing and don't see what I should see there for the 1888/7.

I got a surprise gift of three IHC's in a Lincoln folder I got recently including an '88. I think I studied it until my eyes bled but could not find anything...

Yeah, PCGS and gimme don't mix, especially if it were the real deal.

Nope, the placement of the denticles relative to the 8 do not seem to match the 1888/7. There should be a full denticle directly below the loop; yours is in the middle of two.

Hadn't heard about the denticle marker, but thanks for the tip!
