It isn't the most commonly seen Chinese fake - but it looks far from what NGC shows it should look like.

Note the large and slanted "8" in date, the irregular lettering which looks as if it was drawn by hand, and the ghostly eagle.

For what it's worth, the only place I found this coin with the same characteristics is this site (first from the top). It has to be noted that that piece has a strangely similar overall look to the one you have showed.

The Armavir 1 Rouble shown above is not even a rough match for the design shown on the NGC site. There are numerous errors in the font sizes and shapes. In my opinion the dies (or possibly molds) for this coin were engraved by hand. Letters do not match internally. Beyond the letter and numerals the design itself is too crude to be believed. The way the tail feathers are cut, the shape of the wings, the details of the heads and in particular the bird's left foot is ridiculous. It is simply an attempt to copy a rare collector coin and in my opinion it falls very short and is totally amateurish.

The actual KM # 1 is quite rare. No one should expect to find a high grade example like this for under $500 or 1000 US.

The coin shown here is a $5 to $15 knock off depending on collector interest. Personally I would pay $5.

Thank you both for confirming my suspicion. I also had compared to NGC and was fairly sure it was fake and not just worn. It is up for auction on an online site (not ebay) starting at 150 euro, which was another clue that it was fake.

OK great - I certainly hope no one bids at 150 euros that would be a terrible price to pay for a bad fake.

I have notified both Fruhwald and Numisbids that the coins is fake and asked them to remove it from the auction.
