Q/ Where can you return coins ... aside from a bank?

For example, (way) back in the day, I had a client who placed & serviced coin-op photocopy machines.

He had a very large (and fast) coin sorter-counter-bagger machine, and a bank that accepted his deposits.

Were I coin roll hunting today, I'd try to find a friendly vending machine company to take my returns, preferably trading them some sort of useful service to keep things fair.

Q/ What other alternatives can we think of?

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

I'll use a self-checkout machine during non-peak hours to get rid of mine. Fortunately I know of some within two miles that will take half dollars, and that's where a lot of my halves go.

The only time I'll visit a Coinstar machine is to see if there is anything in the reject tray.

After rereading and understanding deleted my first part!

luckily, I can get boxes from two banks (accounts), and pickup $15 a pop at to others (all different companies) and have one bank that accepts all my coins to count for free. Therefore for me, just from banks is better and less hassle. BTW, banks are supplied by Brinks and Garda, not sure where each's depot is Probably KC.

I personally would no longer deal with any bank. Join a credit union, where you become part owner, and many of them offer free counting machines and free services.

Casinos will often take loose coins if you have a players club card. (which are free) Don't abuse the tellers. Give them a tip. Turn in coin when it is slow like week day mornings. Two casinos that I used started charging because some people were abusing the system. One thing I like about the casinos is they are open 24/7. I like to drop off coin at 8 am on a Sunday morning then hit the Sunday Brunch buffet. :)
