I'm still a newbie at coin roll hunting. I've been hunting now for about 3 months. Today was my first time hunting halves. I went to 2 different banks and ended up with $600 in rolled halves. Here is my silver finds today. Beginners luck ? Ended up with 1 stamped 1980 novelty 4 1964 90% 1 1951 90% 63 1965-1969 40%

That is insane. Nice finds, and yes, a lost of luck was involved.

Yea these are not normal results especially in only $600 worth. You got someone's collection possibly dumped by their relatives.

Hope your good luck continues. And, yes, that was a lucky lot you picked up.

Thanks everyone.
I thought the same thing. Inheritance but had no clue what they were. My lucky day I guess. Will keep hunting for sure.

Nice finds! Search the Internet for a list of DD's and variety coins to look for also - some being worth more than just the silver coins.

That is nearly a 6% hit rate for the silver ones.

I also had beginners luck, but not this big. In Canada halves haven't been found at banks since 2004, but nickel rolls still go back to 1937 (that's when the beaver design was first used).
On my second hunt out of $80 in nickels I found $30 FV to be old (w/ a full roll of 1938s, which hold the second lowest beaver-nickel mintage!). I recently sold $22 FV of this for 53 1968 50% canadian silver dimes, about $45 in silver.

I went around to 3 of the banks in my area to see if I could get 2 rolls of 50c, yeah I know BIG spender , found 0 rolls, $2 at one, $0 at #2, #3 had $4.50 mostly all were road rashed. Wonderful finds, seems it goes that way, at first...

Nice finds, but don't think that's normal. I searched $3K worth last week and found 2 40%. Occasionally there will be boxes that apparently came from a collection dump. In about 2 yrs. 3 mo. of searching I've found 5 monster boxes that held between 20-30 oz. each. Last year I think I searched between $140K-$150K worth of halves and finished the year with just under 155 troy oz. of silver and this was my best year to date. 2015 I probably searched roughly $100K worth and think I ended up with about 90 troy oz for the year. So far this year I've searched $24K in halves and found just slightly over 20 troy oz. Most of those came in January. For the month of February I think I've only found maybe 2-3 troy oz.

Nice finds. You just got a good bunch. Sometimes you find them and sometimes you do not. Feels good though, right?
