Just received this one and I'm stuck on what variety it is. It seems to somewhat match the description of Coneca DDO-03 stage 3 and I came up empty with the Wexler variety listings. Any ideas anyone?

I'm not seeing DD, but maybe some slight MD with a nice die crack!

That's what I thought so too when I first look at it, but Weinman initials appears to be also doubled which 1940-S DDO-003, 3-O-II-C clearly lacking. The position of the doubled date are not in the same location, LIBERTY doesn't show the same way in yours either, as it show slight doubling with DDO-003. I'd suggest you send these images to Dr. Wiles, you may have another New variety.

Good Luck*

I too thought is was MD at first look. Now after looking at the images on Variety Vista it seems closer to DDO-001 but the die crack from rim to feather is a later die stage on my coin and the mint mark placement is either different or the reverse die on my coin is further polished. Hmmm, now what?

The date doubling on DDO-001 are more noticeable, but that could be like you said yours is possibly a later die stage.
1940 S has more variant doubling than other dates beside 1940 D. This is easily confuse to myself sometime also.
