So, I am an acid treater, and the best I have ever found was a 1912 S Liberty V nickel...Until yesterday when I found a $40-$50 1913 S type 2! Ok, back to topic, I never acid treat my Philies, because the only big thing to find is the 1916 DDO. But today I said Heck, why not? So this is what I got: Note the places where I drew in Red. Ughh! The more I look at it, the more I think it is one and at the same time, it looks more more plain.

I just noticed that there is no doubling of the profile.
Can there be one without the doubled profile?

Personally, I don't see it. This DD just screams at you.

I don't know enough about the series, but shouldn't the complete 1916 date be doubled to qualify?

There's an additional and very strong spread on the ribbon ties, feather tips, braid, neck, and chin on the real deal. The coin pictured shows none of that. Some coins will also show doubling on the profile but most of that is additional Die Stage B Machine Doubling.
