Another pickup on ebay. Of all varieties I hunt for, IHC varieties are the easiest--because so many exist for each date. Here's an 1888 IHC with at least four 8 punches in the denticles.

I would grade the coin around VF30

What are you meaning by " punches"?

The die chips?

See a bunch of tinier ones all around, would think it'd happen there most often with the small size of detail.

Those aren't die chips--they are MPDs (misplaced date or digits) in the denticles. They're found a lot of years on IHCs. It's thought they were done to test die hardness.

Thanks Thulium, another area to learn about. Think for now I'll stick w/ my RPM's, I do know a little about those!

These are fun to find because you can spot them even on blurry ebay pictures.
