I'm using a jeweler's loop. It has a lighted LED and 8.3x.
I'm going to get something with higher. I like the notion of hands free, but I'm not above a hand held - or both.
Anyone have magnification they just love?

I use a standard cheapo Harris 10x loupe for close up. I also have two different lighted magnifiers I can use, although I prefer the natural lighting with the Harris.

I have a 10x and 20x Triplet jewelers loop. But my main magnifier is a Plugable 2.0 adjustable magnification microscope that sends the magnified picture to my computer flat screen (Magnification is rated up to 200X but I never go over 50 usually stay around 30X). I bought it for 30$ (now 34.99) and actually works great for the price. I generally coin roll hunt under the scope then if I find something I will verify it with the 20X loop.

I use an old (and very cheap) Miranda 50mm f/1.9 camera lens as a magnifier. The optical quality (as a magnifier) is outstanding, but the power is only about 5x.

I have 25+ magnifying lenses, a couple from my own Grandfather, two floor mount, a rolling 5X mechanism that is great for bulk searching, etc.
What I use usually depends on which one is closest.

I am fortunate to be young and have reasonably good eyes, at least for objects up close.
I have a few magnifiers; a 5x/10x magnifying glass (the super cheap type), a fluorescent lighted 10x desk lamp (stolen from my wife), and a LED lighted 30/60x jewler's loupe for the really up close stuff.

All depends on task. For CRH, use a "Helping Hands" @5x stand. For first ID of RPMs, have a cheap plastic 25-30x now mounted in lighted loupe frame, have the scope/computer for detailing. For on-road bank etc, use foldout lighted 10x loupe. Use the aspheric lighted 7x handhelds for checking 2x2s and flips.

I tend to use a small lighted 6x stand for CRH or initial looks, and I use a B&L loupe for closer inspection. I've been know to use my daughter's junior binocular microscope (20x or 25x) on occasion.
