That penny looks like it's led a tough life, as the king has a mutilated ear. Post mint damage ( PMD) maybe cracked as a result of intensive heat would be my guess.

It's definitely not a die crack because the crack then would be raised.

"A die crack occurs when a die, after being subjected to immense pressure during the minting process, cracks, causing a small gap in the die. If this damaged die cointinues to produce coins, the metal will fill into the crack, thus revealing a raised line of metal in the finished coin."

Maybe a lamination? It is not a die crack.

Looks like a lamination flaw to me, too. The KGV series had lots of them. This one looks like it had a piece peel off at some point in the past.
