Are any of them pre-1925? If so you got heck of a deal since all the dates before 1925 are worth a good deal more than $7 in good condition. In VG condition only a few are worth much more than $6 each. If you have a 27-s or 27-D with a readable date you did very well. When you see a SLQ in AU or MS condition you can appreciate how beautiful their design was, but it is hard to appreciate a smooth, dark coin that just has a date. I got a 1923 in AU and it is a beautiful coin. I got to post a pic because you can really see how great it is with some luster and detail left on it.

I got a 1923 p in fine condition. All the others are 1925 and up. They had a 1920 and a 1919 but they had what looked like green pvc damage so I passed.

T-BOP - no disrespect intended but whose to say he isn't proud to own these? This is what I love best about 'collecting'. Not everyone is in it to flip coins or to buy the best their money can buy. They buy/collect because it's what they wanted at that time. Just like you saying you'd rather spend 182 on a superb specimen is also correct, it's what you wanted to do with your hard earned money. I say more power to both of you! Enjoy the hobby in the manner that works for each of you.

You know what ; your absolutely right ! Sorry Mike for any misunderstanding taken . I remember the days way back when I was buying bulk lots of AG-G V-nickels because they were cheap and I wanted to have them when I first started collecting .

Mike do you have any tips on getting good deals on coins from jewelry stores? I've asked a few independent jewelers if they have any coins for sale and the answer has always been no. I have had a bit of luck with cash for gold stores.

Joe, you can call your local jewelry stores and coin stores. On my last round of calls, the jewelry store didn't have 90% junk silver (only ASEs and Krugerrands), but the coin store had junk silver for about 14x face. A different store had junk silver at 18x face. There can be good finds there, but you'll have to cherrypick the bins.

I wasn't offended. No worries. Suddenly I wake up in a world where everyone's offended by everything - That I take offense to. @ Joe I kind of lucked out with this store. It's a high-end high-volume Jewelry store that has the largest selection of Rolex watches I've ever seen. Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Tag Heuer- and a massive inventory of jewelry and engagement diamonds. They also have a coin and bullion department that few know about. The old man that owns the place is a collector.
