So I went to my regular bank, and I asked for some half dollars, and they said no. so I asked if they could order a box, and they said yes without giving me any trouble. Mind you, the particular chase bank I went to is not too big. everyone says its hard to find a bank that will give you half dollars, so any idea why it was so easy for me?
Mine never has any on hand either but they do order them with no problem. I find dumping them at other banks is beneficial as then my regular bank doesn't have to put up with the bother of taking them back in.
Sid, The issue is that half dollars are not a regular coin, your bank does not regularly order these in, so they don't have them on hand. If they had any it would have been from some client who brought them back.
any bank can order in boxes, its just a matter of if they want to or not.
