http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTONINUS-P...47675.l2557I really wanted to get this coin but backed out at the last minute not to bid. Something didn't seem right with the coin.Is this a copy or did I miss out on a nice coin? thanks Joseph

I second that... something seems off. I wouldn't have bid on that coin either.

I don't like that coin at all.

The style is wrong.
The portrait looks more like Burt Reynolds than Pius.
I don't like the edges - they look cast.
The details are too soft.
The wear looks faked.
The seller is a newbie.

Here's what it's trying to be: RIC621.

I know silver better than bronze so maybe others who know the metal better will say it's okay. But my gut tells me it's a fake and I would have skipped over the listing.

Bears a strong resemblance to one on the fake reports. Here's a side-by-side of the obverses ( ebay image at left, known fake at right)...reverses are also similar.

I agree, the patina looks fake and the style is not constant with the type.

Looks like a genuine "stinker" to me !
The style of the hair and beard as well as the laurel is NG.
The portrait style is also a nonstarter.
Excellent sestertii of Antoninus Pius can be found for under $100 from reliable sellers.
I have bought many !
