Most of my coin knowledge is post 19th century, this seems like a good way to learn. What are the obvious errors here that we should be seeing?

First of all, there hasn't been a coin produced in 1743 that looks even remotely close to this coin. Second, this isn't a coin, but a copy of a medal. Third, look at the lump of extra metal on the star on the left, which is a typical Orient indication. Fourth, on the higher points of the coin, there's some wear and it seems that a completely different metal than silver shines through. Can't determine which one based on the pics, but it certainly doesn't look like silver to me. I guess it's something silver plated Nordic gold-ish, as there are some medals like this made of that material. Fifth, the details on both sides of the medal are as blurry as can be, even on places where it can't be wear.

These medals sometimes sell for less than $10. Originals, that is. Not obviously fake copies like this one.

Anyway, this would have been a nice one in the thread about worst coins on ebay.
