I found this penny today and I dont know what is wrong with it. There is markings all over it and it is actually kind of bent? When you hold it up it looks crooked. I noticed that the rim is wider on part of the penny when you hold it up side ways. (I would have gotten a picture of that but we are driving and my husband flung my penny somewhere in the truck with his crazy driving.) Can anyone please let me know about this penny? I also noticed the beard on the face looked funny to me and on the back of the penny there is also markings around the rims and some of the lettering.

Also does anyone know about the 1916 Wheat penny I also found today? I tried to look and see if its the matte finish but I have no idea. Thank you!!

to the family!

1916= looks like it may be a "woody", the planchette material was mixed funny causing the different metals to form a streaking/woodgrain effect. Tho not rare or exceptionally valuable, some collect those for that effect.

Other= damaged post-mint PMD, hard to tell from what but looks circular, coin counter or wrapper?

sorry about that!! I posted new pictures I hope that you can see these ones better. Taking pictures riding in the truck does not turn out very well. I was just excited to find the odd looking pennies!! I just recently started collecting since I have found old coin penny books from my grandma. This has turned out to be the only thing my 13 year old son will actually do with me!! LOL

The 1996-D is just damaged,it's a spender. The 1916 looks nice and is a keeper.
