Smaller version of the die attrition this time on a 1977 Jefferson and in the same place just doesn't go as far around the rim .

Have you tried using a toothpick on that area? Sometimes there is a clear grease on that location. If it doesn't move, it might be another issue. Let me know first if it moves when pressed upon.

I pushed on it with a toothpick and it did not move .

So it might be an issue with a struck through scrap on that area. Check on the edge to see if it wraps around it? Also check the tops of the devices to see if you can see an edge where it stops?

Nope, nothing, edge is normal no folds or wraps and nothing on the letters everything looks normal . Would a closer pic help ? under higher magnification?

Once I posted this and looked at it I believe I can see a line across the I and n let me know if you see it as well or are my eyes playing tricks on me .

Well this image makes me think that it is an attrition issue. The area is raised and I see die flow lines on the field. So it might be anther one.

it is definitely raised closest to the rim and the part farthest from the rim runs under the letters like it did on the other one .
