Hmmm..very nice and unexpected one. I am not sure about real collectible value of this coin - nothing extremely new here, additional replica, that will join to te replicas of: 1998, 2008, 2015 But... I would advise to load it, cause will be not few collectors, that will want to add and couldn't. Negative sides:1. In your 2oz MC special coins collection, you've expected only the Silver Dollar? So now RCM "milking" it...what will be next - explain on the other forum: this will be new series of Renewed Half Dollar, while Renewed Silver Dollar will continue in parallel. Well...we will wait for Renewed 25 cents series as well.2. What is special in 1917 50c coin - please help to understand importance of this commemoration. Added:Decision made. I am pass - have similar design 5cents coin. 1oz, 40mm also selectively gold plated and also with King George V. No need to multiply similar stuff. But gave call to my friend - have no idea, what for he needs the coin, but he said with his ugly and cheesy tone "Don't worry bro, some of the MC will not get it" **Just read the RCM description for this coin: Stupid explain for it's appearance. "From the Maple Leaf to the Coat of the Arms" and with all this blah blah we commemorate Canada 150 Anniversary. This way RCM can mint whatever they want and somehow attach the "Anniversary" **** And at the bottom line, whatever expressed one member on the other forum - would agree regarding this unexpected coin, the new Glass coin and the Dyno coin - RCM again at it worst - flooding with maybe nicely designed, but not related issued.

Nothing, the effigy of King George V first appeared on 50c in 1911. Someone near the top is charged with retention of MC members thinking about "oh how they loved the Revived SD series...,". I don't see it being a hit for a couple of reasons - - no way are the majority of traditional collectors tempted by 2oz size any more than 5oz. But it's a tactic by RCM to increase the price. - there's risk of bigger and biggest (2oz and 5oz) market is already saturated by redo's. I'm a little disappointed if this is RCMs new strategy, here it begins.....a 2oz commemorative on the 100th of whatever.

The 2 ounce voyageur has done well. The 2 ounce Northern Lights in the Moonlight has done well. The 2 ounce Library of Parliament has done well. Maybe I am too much of a newbie; however, I find the 2 ounce coins way more appealing than the one ounce coins. I see this new coin as being a hit with collectors and I do not flip coins. All these coins are for my personal collection. I am not disappointed with the RCM on this coin nor am I disappointed with the new dino series.

Quote: I'm a little disappointed if this is RCMs new strategy, here it begins.....a 2oz commemorative on the 100th of whatever. the explain gathered from the other forum: 1. RCM just milking by starting additional Renewed series. 2. 1917 not special for Canada 50 cents coin. They ( RCM) just made it 100 Anniversary of the coin (cause this still belongs to the 1-st design of the 50 cents) and "attached" this to Canada 150 Anniversary. I still think, that will be some hype cause: 1. 1-st in series (good for resale) 2. This is "Special MC coin". Whatever is limited and special - is popular.

@New1954: Check this ebay listings to see original 50 cents: ebay ID = 232253220429You right, 2oz might be more appeal than 1 oz in general. But this one has diameter 50mm, while 5cents coin (same design, but not double-dated - ebay ID = 381764242606) has 40mm .... 1cm only difference. Anyway, here is the replica of 1908-1998 (first RCM coin for Canada): ebay ID - 132100468992The problem with it - incorrect (not as in original reverse) the sets are beatiful And here replica of 1998 - 2008 ebay ID = 371861977255So...the 2017-1917 joins the replica family Nice as coin, but the set is weak (imo)

And it may that RCM had recognized that's the type of collector that makes up their MC membership. Nothing wrong with them marketing to whom they expect to buy. i just don't see it a huge success for flippers to find buyers that arent already MC members. We saw that just recently with the 5oz goose coin.

I too liked the 5o cent coin. It's very attractive. BTW I also ordered the Vimy coin. Not only a very nice looking coin but also low mintage of 750.
Cheers

I placed an order for one coin for my personal collection, I have no desire to sell/flip this coin at the moment. It will look nice beside my other Renewed gold plated coins!
