1969-D-Solid-Silver-Kennedy-Half-Dollar

This Coins weight is 11.41 Grams.I was thinking that if it was plated it would weigh more than the 11.5 grams that it should weigh. How can I authenticate whether this coin is solid silver or not?

If it was solid 90% silver, it should weigh 12.5 grams. I think you have a silver clad with no visible copper line on the edge.

Right - it's a 40% silver Kennedy made from 1965 - 1970.

It is very difficult to see the poorer alloy on the edge of any of the '65 to '70 Half dollars that I possess.
Silver clad 80% silver 20% copper, with a 79% copper, 21% silver core.
They ALL weigh 11.5 grammes.

The 90% silver proofs are '64, and 1992s to date, weigh 12.5 grammes, and appear obviously different.
Rest in Peace

With Mint tolerance a 40% silver half can weigh as little as 11.1 grams.
