Today my local coin Dealer offered a 10 Dollar Piece from 1898 S to me. I would estimate it between au 55 and ms 62 ( I am not good at that. It has Luster with scratches). His price was 670 dollar. I am not a collecter of american coins, but would it be a good financial Investment? Should I buy it? Greetings from Germany!

A 1898-S $10 gold coin retails for $740 at AU55 and $1,310 at MS62 here. Don't have any idea if it is a good investment. If you post pictures, folks here can help grade.

I cant take pictures, because of I diddnt buy it yet. I told the Dealer that I will think about it at home. Is 1908 S a better (more expansive) year and how realistic is the price guide? What would be the price of a ms 60? Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english :-(

You can go to this site: coinprices.org to look up approximate retail values. What you can realize on sale could be 20-40% less depending on costs and how much demand there is for the item. Expect a large discount if you need to sell quickly.

A 1908-S $10 piece would be the Indian Head design and is a much better date. A true MS-60 would be worth $3000 or more. A nice coin for any collection!
