Well, while filing the 1983 from my last post, a coin I just pulled out of a roll a day or two ago, I found in my files another 1983 from who knows when that I hadn't been able to figure out. So here we go again, a 1983 DDO in need of expert help. And the plating issues don't help.
The clearest examples of doubling on this coin are the notches in the T and R of TRUST (and thickness on the U) along with some visible doubling on the letters themselves. Also looks like the lower right of the 8 is showing the doubling.
The final image shows the odd almost circular die scratches that are very distinct on the coin and center on Lincoln's left knee.
Only one close is 1983P-1MM-011, has notch on lower leg R and thick you & S but doesn't mention the "v" notch in left of T or the upper L of liberty. May want to do more analysis.
There looks like the lathe lines on the center, but I feel these are die scratches, not lathe lines. The die polisher may have created these. On the lathe lines they are a lot more circular.
The lines on the reverse are not arcs, but a lot of small straight lines. Look very much like die scratches so likely a polishing issue. But they seem like an obvious marker and aren't mentioned in any of the variety listings. I will give another good look at 1MM-011 and see what turns up. Thanks!
