I found a 1996 D penny that appears to have a extra D next to Lincolns forehead please let me know if it's wishful thinking or not thank you!

It most likely took a hit that broke the plating and that is a bubble created from underlying zinc rot - just damage.

Edit: I just noticed the rim looks odd near IN G. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?
