I have a few XF gold coins, It's hard to tell if they have been cleaned. Coins with some luster show the "cartwheel" affect when tilted in the light. Duller, more worn coins don't cartwheel.
I look for very fine directional hairline scratches too. What else should I look for?

I'm looking for advice, not magic

I have no faith in coin grading via photos.
