Hello, Pardon my ignorance, but I always collected coins very informally. Back about 20 years ago I had a job as a cashier, occasionally preparing the bank deposit at a large department store. I would trade out the silver coins and wheat pennies when I saw them, old nickels, etc. I just dug some of that old collection out to see if there was anything decent in it, and these are the two "best" pennies. What do you think? How do you estimate a grade on a coin like this? Long answer or short, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The 1937 looks to have just a little rub on the high areas of the design - the jawline, the cheek , and the high points on his jacket. On the reverse the wheat stalks look a little flat at the center. It does have quite a bit of the original luster , but not enough to be graded full "red" . I would give the 1937 a grade of AU-55 Red Brown. The pictures are a little dark, and I could be mistaking the dark areas for wear.
The 1958-D Has lots of luster and could grade full red. It does not look like any of the high points have any wear, so it appears to be uncirculated. A few spots (notably on his head ) and some hits here and there. The obverse looks pretty clean as far as contact marks, and the reverse has just a few smaller marks. I really like the surfaces on the obverse and I think it would keep the grade up even with the slightly worse reverse. I would grade this an MS-64 Red. The mark in front of Lincolns bowtie looks to me like a clash mark , rather than a hit, so it should not go against the grading of the coin. Hope this helped a little. A copy of the official ANA grading standards can be really helpful, a good investment for any collector.
