Since I had to send a couple hundred brown and blue 71 and 72 Ike's to the melt bag this week at the shop, I figured I would pick a few nice ones for the collection. I already have some of them...but you can always use more ..right ? Right ! This 1971-S blue Ike was about the best of the 60 odd sets there were of this coin. Should be easier than most..we already know it is uncirculated ! Grade opinions appreciated.

Also a question- Do the top TPG's all grade these in the original packaging and leave it in there ? or do they slab them ?

Ok...I'll take a stab at it...I don't see alot of marks on the obverse, just a couple small hits. I think the linear scratches in the close up are on the plastic so the face is nice and clean, and the semi circle scratches in the field behind him are also on the plastic. The reverse is also very clean the only hits I see are on the Eagle's tail and above that on the Eagle's left wing ( it's there, in the bright area). Well struck and nice luster, I will go with MS-67. I don't think the reverse marks are enough to hold it back at 66, and I know it's better than 65.
