is it possible to tell the date and variety of this coin?, it has a lettered edge. "one hundred for a dollar" the reverse is completely smooth.

Not a specialist.

If it weighs 10.9 grams it's from 1795 or 1796.

Sorry I can't help to answer your question but I find the coin fascinating. I love the history of old copper. Considering the wear on the coin what are the chances that it passed through the hands of many of our founding fathers.

All I can tell from the image is it's a 1794 somewhere between S-21 and S-44.

It would grade 1794 PO01 IMHO.
