I have a 1982 with black lines on just the front side. Have any of you seen anything like this?

It looks like what's called a "Woody" (improperly mixed alloy) or those are roller lines.

A better full-on pic may help.

to the forum!

That is common on 95% Copper cents from the early 1980's.

The cause is debatable.

Just a shot in the dark, but I wonder if it's possible that in some cases ,these lines on plated copper coins could be the result of the copper plating having to much zinc dissolved in it and being poorly mixed, creates brass and copper streaks.?

Can't see the lines as good on a front shot. Can't get my camera to pick them up.

Since its just one side, roller lines. When going through coin counter/sorter machine on a belt, gets squeezed between the rollers making those marks. May have been hung up in there.

It also looks to be a MAD or miss-aligned die. Another common error.
