Peace dollars aren't my primary field of interest, but I was wondering why bidders are bidding this one up. (They're also bidding on a 1928 Peace dollar that I'm not touching without examining in hand for a removed mint mark.) There are other junk quality Peace dollars that are going above market price, but this guy is double those.

I did a bit of looking into it on PCGS Coinfacts. All I figured out is that it is not a DDO, but looks like a medium sized D mint mark. Any info on VAM and value is appreciated. Thanks!

That's actually a micro-D. Based on the very low position I would call it a VAM 9. It's an R-5 VAM (The highest level assigned to any 34-D).

Ah, thanks seatednut! I guess I should have checked out VAMworld and not just PCGS's list of varieties for the year and mint mark. The only example on PCGS that had the mint mark that low was the medium D.

Any guestimate on grade or value? VAMworld notes only six certified by ANACS and none by anyone else, but that was as of late 2013.
