@commems You're right no where does it say the Stanley Cup side will be exposed BUT the RCM web-site does say "Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed or your money back. Whether you are purchasing coins for your collection or unique gifts for friends and family, you can be assured that the Mint fully guarantees the superior quality and craftsmanship of its products. Shop with confidence knowing that if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can simply return it to us in its original packaging within 30 days and we will gladly offer you a replacement (subject to product availability) or send you a full refund." .............and I'm NOT satisfied!

Quote: No where in the core text description for the set does it promise that the rolls will have each side of the coin exposed. Pictures are there to supplement the text descriptions, they are not a "contractual" obligation (e.g., the images are often not of the final or actual product). Yes, I call this deceptive advertising.

@onecad: By all means, return what you are not satisfied with. None of my comments here were meant to suggest that you needed to keep a product with which you weren't happy. My only point has been that the RCM can't be "blamed" for delivering what it said it was going to - it's up to each individual collector to decide if such a delivery meets their expectations. @Looney4Numi: The RCM can't be held responsible for the assumptions you've made about what was going to be delivered. Their text description is clear.

Who knows... maybe one of those double header rolls has a first strike full reverse brockage in them... I crack a ton of special wrapped rolls every year, 2004 poppy, Olympic rolls, etc...

I have to disagree with you, commens, and obviously, many other Canadians agree with me. The mint's phone lines have been inundated with complaints of the mint's misrepresentation. Just take a look at the reviews on their site now. My previous post regarding deception explains it clearly. RCM knows they made a mistake because some of the photos have been removed. You have your own perception, and that's ok. You don't have to agree with us.

The Mint at least in their description or a footnote could have indicated that rolls could be double headers. The discription with photos showing the rolls is deceiving IMHO. The premiums that collectors are paying for these rolls should justify at least some union paid Mint employee to ensure that a design side should be selected and inserted into the box.
During the Canada 125 program (1992) 25 cent rolls that I got from the banks, I kept rolls showing the design on one end and the head on the the other for EACH of the 12 rolls, so that it looks like a complete 'perfect' set. I did not want a roll that had a double header as it defeated the purpose of having the design that was selected during the design contest. Who wants to see the Queens portrait, anyways? And, I only paid Face.

There is a simple way for collectors to make their point, just return them, the extra handling shipping, rewrapping will force the RCM not to make the same mistake if they sell future special wrappers.

Good idea...but first order several more sets and then reassemble the rolls to make one perfect set (if possible). Then send back the rest.

Yes...order like 10 sets, cherry pick the rolls and certificate number and send back the double header roll sets back to the Mint.
That ought to make satisfaction, guaranteed.

The caveat however would discourage buyers if the reviews haven't already done enough damage! I fully agree that the RCM is only concerned with the bottom line and not looking at things from a collector prospective. If they can manage to put 20,000 sets together without any issues (upside down, reverse, wrong hole, etc) then they should have been able to do the same with these sets. Considering the huge markup (a little fancy wrapping and a nice box are not worth the premium) and the end user, the very least that could have been done was to have a reverse design on one end. As a bonus for the two special mixed rolls they could have gone with one couloured and one plain on either end. Shrink wrapped rolls are a different matter. Not much effort is required to carefully remove the offending coin, flip it around and shove it back in without damaging the plastic. The only picture with the rolls in the box clearly implies that the commemorative side will be at one end. Definitely passing up on this set now and would rather spend my time hounding the local banks for rolls at face value! At least this way I can promote the hobby and the local clubs I belong to.
