Tahnks for all the help on here... I am still going through boxes of coins... I bound a confederate note that looks exactly like this :

http://cgi.ebay.com/1861-5-CONFEDER...15_W0QQitemZ250233227849QQihZ015QQcategoryZ3414QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

However, in the lower right corner it had a V instead and around the bottom ant top edge in the green border it says FIVE FIVE FIVE....all along the top and bottom. I can't find an example of this design for the 5 dollar note dated Richmond Sept. 2nd 1861 The number at the top says 8644

Thanks

You might have some more luck if you post it in the currency forum:

Try here

CT-33/250C Counterfeit $5 1861. This Upham woodcut counterfeit has plate letter J, printed signatures, and serial number 8644. The Upham marginalia has been trimmed away. Another trait of this counterfeit is the missing "or" below the eight per cent fundable clause. Rarity 6, estimated 51 - 75 known to exist, see Counterfeit Currency of the Confederate States of America by George R. Tremmel. Choice Crisp Uncirculated.

I don't know if this picture will come through.

I doubt it has any considerate value.

If its from the time period of the Civil War then it still has some considerate value. Otherwise, I don't think it will be worth much
