Hello, my name is Phil and I have been collecting oddball coins for many years. The coins have just been sitting in a box.I would like to start showing some and hopefully get some thoughts or comments as to what these are and if they are worthy of further actions like authentication, registration, grading or such.

I'll leave this one to the experts, however, quite the anomaly.

There are no overdates for this year. Its hard to tell could be die chips. The 5 kind of looks like it could be displaced metal from a hit thats been smoothed out now over time from circulation. But its hard to tell for sure also make sure that its not some foreign substance on the coin
Rest in Peace

Expanded best I could. The 5 has taken a hit PMD on the left. I suspect the 7 has taken a hit on the upper right corner, what youre seeing is that chip imbedded. Note the scuff mark just north of the chip, appears to be the end point of glancing blow to 7....JMHO

Looks more like die chips than hit displacement.

Thanks for the input friends. I have some further info regarding the displaced metal theory. This was my thinking also at first, but now I have doubts. Here is why. Displaced metal should be "movable" I would think. I put the coin under 60 power magnification and probed the extra metal with toothpicks. Nothing would budge at all. I am now convinced that the extra metal has been there from day one. As for "chips". This makes more sense to me, except the chips seem to have a bit of shape to them as opposed to just blobs of metal. Any way I thank you all and whee this is fun.
