Hi all,
I'm Mark and have just joined this fantastic site.

I am after some advice on a MINT CONDITION 2005 gold 1/20 oz panda coin I picked up yesterday!
I am heavily into fraction coins and have just seen on a census panda site that it's worth in mint condition $300/£247
Is this info correct?
Please as many peeps info appreciated

Seems like a big ripoff to me. You really have to love that series to pay 10 times the spot price.

NGC Gold Panda Price Guide

Please note that price is for the NGC certified 2005 1/20 MS-70 gold panda coin, depending on condition, it can be about 1/3 of the listed price.

1/20 oz. gold pandas were $88 at the ANA show Friday.
Good mix of years but I can't speak for the 2005 specifically.
1/10 oz. $140

Mac gave you a great resource there and there are several price guides, real time in fact with current info of market prices, Peter Anthony has one and a few other outlets do too, probably a great resource to have for Panda collectors.

CE Collections I believe still has one of his older books on sale as well, for like over 50% off and worth every penny.

I personally am not too fond of small gold coins, but Pandas like 1/10 pieces from the past would be fun to collect. What scares me tho is the amount of fakes.

re: the amount of fakes: Precisely why proof coins are dangerous. One doesn't test them for fear of degrading their value. Counterfeiters know this. Buy gold if you want gold, but the second you turn to brand names is when you become a target for these thieves.

I think the only way is to get a Sigma metal detector or some other type of device, and scan your stash, if counterfeiter can make fake Panda's and other fake bullion. Get where I going with this!

Having one of these device maybe more common in the future.
