Hey everybody,

I also have two of these coins, just showing the one for some clarification:

1903-Liberty-Head-Half-Eagle

1903-Liberty-Head-Half-Eagle

When I was verifying the value on PCGS, the only 1903 Liberty Head Half Eagles were worth upwards of 20K for a 64 grade. But they just said 1903, not 1903S. Blue book puts this at about $450. What do you all think? Am I on the right track?

Thanks for any help!

All coin values are listed on PCGS Coinfacts section; here is the link for the 1903-S half eagle...

The value for NGC and PCGS graded coins between MS-61 to MS-63 have very small incremental increases between grades. It jumps at 64 and above, but this coin shows enough minor handling marks to keep it from that more valuable grade range, in my opinion.

More importantly, if this is being sold raw, it will probably sell for much less simply because a segment of the potential buyers only buy gold in one of the two above TPG's.

I always recommend gold, even common date, to be sent to one of those TPG as it makes it much easier to sell if you decide to do so.

Thanks everybody for the help. I am interested in selling these coins, among many others. I see that I need a minimum of 250 posts to even begin. I know this may start to go off topic, but what route should I take, ebay or paypal? I remember ebay fees being through the roof, so I would rather sell through paypal. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thank you.

ebay will net you many viewers from all around the world, PayPal is ok, but I would be hesitant to deal with someone I don't know

On ebay, after all is said and done (fees), the seller sold it for about $570.

ebay seems to be a rip off, if I am understanding you correctly Nickel Guy, that is approximately $100 worth of fees?

Personally, I think it is. ebay and Paypal will take about 15% of the total sale price.

That is just crazy. I appreciate the feedback though. The way I see it, I have a few options:

I sell on ebay for convenience. I live out in the high desert, so not a whole lot of people to sell coins to.

I sell to the one coin collector I know locally.

I sell to a coin dealer, last resort of course. I was not happy with their offers when I got these coins appraised. Obviously they need to make a profit, but over 50%? Crazy...

Thanks again everyone. Been a huge help.
