Even tho I'm listed as a new member I've actually been a member for a number of years. I haven't posted here for quite a while so maybe that has something to do with it. Anyhow my name is Ron and my areas of specialty are Buffalo nickels in general and doubled dies in all series. I've co-authored one book-"The Authoritative Guide for Buffalo nickels" with John Wexler and Kevin Flynn and authored another-"Buffalo Nickels-the Abraded Die varieties."
I plan on participating and contributing here a little more frequently in the future.
The question was "I have just now gotten around to bidding on a buffalo... any suggestions for a newbie?" by mnknight77
That all depends on what you like, and your means. When I started my Buffalo nickel collection, I had to get a book on Buffalo nickels. No internet back then. Only punch cards. Then I got a Dansco album and filled it up. I got few MS63/64 slabbed coins to see all the pretty details.
