That may be because the only known piece is slabbed by NGC. PCGS has never seen one.

"Looks like PCGS doesn't recognize a small date 82D zincoln!"

I thought the rare was the small date 82D copper? Isn't the small date 82D zincoln on the end of 2nd row?

Condor... that makes since. Which is the official group? PCGS or the NGC? (not sure if I got those initials right...)

There is no such thing as an "Official" group. There is no authority that bestows "Official" status on these things. Yes you will see some things accurately called official, such as NGC being the official grading service of the ANA. But that doesn't make them the offical grading service of anyone else. The ANA bestowed the designation on them and it only relates in reference to them. (And why id the ANA chose them to be the "Official Grading Service"? For their quality? Their accuracy or consistency? No because NGC offered them money money and more free grading for the officers than anyone else.)

Condor, Thanks for the political information. This information is gold because you never really hear about why things are the way they are.

Those all look like Philly 82 small date to me.

without real numbers of small dates minted.
nobody could accurately predict the value of 82 small
dates minted.

My calculations 2.5 billion pennies could be
small date.

However I keep all small date 1982 like I keep 2009s

Finding a small date 1982 would be like finding a 1968
not rare but still hard to find in change.

Does anyone have a real number of 82 small dates?

No, we don't even have accurate numbers for copper and zinc production. So large and small date production would be an even more of an unknown.
